Alain Troubat and his wife moved to Brussels more then 17 years ago to open the Stirwen; “the white star”. Alain got his passion for cooking from his grand-mother at an early age, and it developed over the years as he travelled and tried out new kinds of cuisine, eventually being awarded the title of “Maître Chef” of France and Belgium.


The Stirwen offers a menu of authentic French cuisine that follows the chef’s philosophy of using seasonal market products brought together with a touch of inspiration.


The food at the Stirwen reflects the chef’s interest in mixing and marrying contrasting flavours and spices. “Just like an artist, a chef has to be passionate about what he does”, says Alain.


The chef has difficulty picking out just one dish he feels especially proud of. With a wink, his wife suggests the hare “à la royale”. Impossible to resist!
